12 things you can do with YouTube Studio
To help newcomers and even fill the knowledge gap of some frequent users, here are some of the things you can do with YouTube Studio beyond just posting videos.
How to locate YouTube Studio
YouTube Studio is located at hereí.
Or, if you are logged into your YouTube account, you can locate YouTube Studio by clicking the image menu in the upper right corner of the web application. The YouTube Studio option then appears in the drop-down menu.
However, if you don’t have a YouTube channel yet, once you click YouTube Studio option, the next menu that appears asks you to create a YouTube channel.
Now that you are ready, here is an overview of the best features of YouTube Studio to explore.
1. Manage multiple YouTube channels
Since YouTube Studio is specific to individual channels, it allows you to manage multiple YouTube channels at the same time. All you need to do is change the channel. And if your YouTube channels are on different Google accounts, you can always swap your Google accounts.
You can change your account before or after starting Studio. Once you log into your YouTube account, just as you did when locating YouTube Studio, click the image menu in your account and click Change account to select your preferred YouTube channel. The process is practically the same in YouTube Studio.
That way, you can monitor each account differently and more conveniently.
Create a brand channel
However, you can also create more than one YouTube channel with a single Google account. That new account is called a brand channel.
To create a sponsored channel, go to Setting, then go to Channel and navigate to the option Advanced configuration. Then click Manage YouTube account. This will take you to a new page where you will have the option to Add or manage your channels.
2. View real-time channel analysis
Of course, monitoring the overall performance of your channel is very important. To access the analysis tool, click on the option Go to channel analysis in the lower right corner of the Studio panel. Alternatively, you can also click on the option Analysis in the left corner of the web application.
Once on the analysis page, you can monitor the performance of individual videos and see the general changes that occur on your channel. These include detailed information about changes in the number of subscribers, number of views, and watch time.
However, beyond that overview, you also have options that allow you to monitor your reach, engagement, and audience type. And like any business, these options allow you to make future decisions about what types of video to focus on.
These other options are just as useful if you want to know more about specific performance metrics.
You can also click see more or option Advanced to get a better understanding of more storytelling analysis. This option is useful if you want to compare the performance by year or the performance of one video against another.
YouTube allows you to access that option when you click on the option Compare with in the upper right corner of the Advanced Options page.
3. Upload videos
The most recommended way to upload videos to YouTube is through YouTube Studio. Although you can still upload videos through the YouTube mobile app, this doesn’t give you as much flexibility.
To upload a video, click on the logo Add video in the upper right corner of the web application. That opens a page that tells you to select a file. Click on Select files to find your video in your local files.
4. Edit videos
If you can’t afford the cost of dedicated offline video editors, YouTube Studio now has an editor that allows you to do online video editing.
To create and edit YouTube videos, you will need the right tools.
The best way to access the video editor is to list your video as a private video by checking the box Private, option in the visibility step. That’s a better way, since you don’t want to do raw edits on an already public video.
When you return to the listed videos, you can click on the recently uploaded video. And click on the option Editor in the left corner of your screen to edit your video.
Take advantage of the editor
While it doesn’t offer many advanced features like dedicated apps, YouTube Studio’s video editor allows you to do some basic editing that at least prepares your video for publication.
You can cut and merge fragments of your videos, add a final screen, video elements and audio without copyright from YouTube. And recently, the effect of blur to the editor, giving you more control over the objects that appear to viewers.
5. Video drafts
You can also compose a video to edit later. In fact, once a video is successfully uploaded, it becomes a draft. Therefore, once you upload your video, close the upload interface to add said video to the draft for editing later.
6. Schedule Uploaded Videos Publication
If you don’t want to post a video right away, you can schedule it for later. Video scheduling option is available when you get to the pass Visibility during the publishing process. The Schedule option, allows you to specify the preferred loading time for a video.
7. Create More Users
Granting access to multiple users is one of the things you may want to do, especially if you are opting for some collaborations. However, this involves granting permission to some users and assigning them a role.
This option is also available in the Studio settings. Once in the Studio settings, go to Permissions and click on the option Manage permissions. Authenticate your account and click on the sign plus to invite a user.
8. Create and manage your playlists
Playlists are a great way to keep your channel more organized and easily navigable for viewers. You can create different playlists and give each of them a descriptive name. That allows users to understand the intent of the content in a playlist immediately.
To create a playlist, click the option Play list in the left corner of the study. Then, in the next interface that appears, click the option New Playlist.
9. Manage comments
There are many ways to manage viewer comments through YouTube Studio. However, you can decide to filter what your audience can post as comments, allow all comments, hold them for moderation, or even disable them entirely.
To know how the comments of your viewers arrive, simply go to the option Community in the Studio settings. Then navigate between the automated filters and the options default to set your preference.
10. Add subtitles to your videos
If you think you need some translation texts to make your videos more attractive, you can decide create and add a subtitle file.
The subtitles option is available in the first step of uploading your video. To access it, click More options. Select the language of your video and upload a subtitle file from your computer.
11. Hide your YouTube channel
If your YouTube channel is new, you may want to have some videos for your potential audience before it goes public. What you want to do in that case is hide your channel and keep uploading videos.
However, YouTube Studio also offers you that option. It is available by clicking on the menu Setting. Once the configuration options appear, click Channel, Then in Advanced configuration and click Delete YouTube content. You then have the option to remove or hide your channel from public view.
