Google TV inherits a crucial feature from Android TV

The Chromecast with the Google TV interface has been praised mainly as an improvement over Android TV, but it still lacks a few things. Until now, for example, it has not been possible to hide programs from the ‘Continue Watching’ section of the home screen, but it looks like that is going to change. As Android TV continues to pick up on Google TV features, at least this important thing goes the other way.

Long-pressing a TV show or movie that resides in this section only produced a redundant Open button previously, but a Redditor just noticed that they now have a Hide button underneath (via 9to5Google). This is exactly what you need if you’ve finished watching something and would no longer like it to clog your feed.

I don’t have this capability yet even though my Chromecast has the latest firmware so this may be a limited test for now. However, it shouldn’t take long to deploy more widely.

This is great news that is sure to make many users happy, but what if programs are constantly displayed on the ‘Continue watching’ section first? In my experience, only two items appear on the carousel and only from Netflix, although we are currently watching series from several different services. Order it, Google – this could be one of your best products with just a little extra care.
