I can’t download the YouTube app from icloud


I deleted the YouTube app about 3 or 4 months ago and decided to download it again.
I went to the App Store and looked for it and when I saw it the iCloud icon was not there so I clicked on the App Store app. The iCloud icon is boring and nothing happens when I click on it! I tried to load YouTube from Safari on the home screen but it still only takes me to the website not to the app.
I have a YouTube account and everything and I still get emails from YouTube but I can’t download the application !!

It is because the application is 17+. Go to the restrictions settings and enable applications above this age limit. Then try again

Use the App Store app to download YouTube to your phone. If the iCloud icon is gray and nothing works, try …

  • Switching the phone to Airplane mode and deactivation.

To do this, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap the icon for an airplane. Doing this will turn the cellular radio and Wi-Fi connector off and on again.

On iOS 6 and earlier, where the Control Center isn’t available (doesn’t happen if you swipe up from the bottom of the screen), do this from Settings. It is the first slide switch.

  • Switch the phone off and on again.

To turn off the phone, press and hold the button on the top of the phone (or the one on the right side if you have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus) until a slider drops. Slide the slider which appears to disable it.

To turn it back on again, press and hold the button again or turn off the phone if the lock button does not work.

You should see the application download directly on the home screen.

  1. Open App App iOS App Store
  2. Awards Updates for iPhone or Purchased for iPad in the lower menu bar.
  3. Awards Purchased at the top of the screen (iPhone only)
  4. Press i My Purchases (for iPhone only)
  5. to press Not on This iPhone or Not on This iPad
  6. Find the App.

If that doesn’t work and you have updated your applications using iTunes

  1. Connect the device to the computer
  2. Click the device icon on the top left of iTunes
  3. In Settings click on Apps
  4. There will be a list of apps, scroll down to find YouTube
  5. Click the button Install
  6. Click the button Apply

If you don’t see the application in iTunes, you may need to go to the iTunes App Store to download it. If the app says it has been downloaded, then click on Purchased on the right, click Not in My Library and find there, then download. Now you go back to the instructions for iTunes and you should be able to restore it.

Another thought crossed my mind. If it happened to be set, accidentally set the parental control settings for less than 17+, you will not be able to download the youtube program. You need to disable Parental Control Preferences or set them to unlimited to get the application.

It is more than likely that the age restrictions in general settings only lift the age restriction in the restrictions. Karlos

  • The reasons could be verifications of restrictions to make sure you don’t have a limitation to install an application that has been rated for 17+ or the compatibility you can only install it on an operating system at least iOS version 8.0 or higher.
  • If that’s true, you might try to quit the App Store and reconsider.
  • If the latter is also true, I suggest you do a force restart on your device which usually works when others don’t.
