iTunes does not update on a Windows Vista laptop; It says I need Windows 7

I installed the update on my iPhone after backing it up but I have an old version of iTunes and it won’t allow me to update it on my Windows Vista laptop (it tells me I need Windows 7). If I set up as a new iPhone will I lose everything I backed up? How can I get the new iTunes on my laptop?

Just find out if you need the version 32-bit or version 64-bit . The download website should detect it for your system though.

Also make sure your laptop and phone are authorized on your Apple ID.

Don’t try to update from iTunes itself.

Exit iTunes, even better restart the laptop.

Go to the website, download the installer

Use the download installer to update it.
