Samsung sued for a feature that we find on many Android smartphones
Problems in sight for Samsung: the Korean company was cited in court because of the function it allows predict how long the device battery will lasta function that in reality is not only present on Samsung phones, but which we find on practically all Android smartphones of any manufacturer.
K. Mirza LLCa company that deals with managing patents, filed a lawsuit against Samsung on May 20, saying it claims that the Korean company would infringed the patent concerning the functionality described above, which instead would have been developed by a Dutch research institute called Nederlandse Organisatie voor Togepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoe (TNO).
To be affected by the cause would be Samsung devices with fairly old OS versions, so there shouldn’t be any problems with newer smartphones. However, it should be noted that this functionality is also used by Google and Xiaomi (at the moment the companies are not affected by this cause): we will therefore see how the situation will evolve.
