Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 official: Qualcomm pushes on the top

Qualcomm has now conquered and dominated the world of top-of-the-range processors in the SamaGame, with the only exception of Samsung still trying to stand up to it. As for some years now Qualcomm has decided to update its premium SoC in the middle of its life. Let’s talk about the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This new component improves above all in terms of power and autonomy, which are the two main pillars of a System-on-a-chip. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU will offer 10% more performance thanks also to a frequency increase up to 3.2 GHzas well as the GPU will always have an improvement of 10% in terms of performance.

And if Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 hadn’t completely convinced about energy consumption in the practical test, this is where probably the biggest improvement is concentrated. CPU and GPU in fact, as the performance demands increase, they can reach the maximum of their performance at an energy efficiency even improves by 30%.

All while guaranteeing features such as registration 8K HDR video thanks to the triple 18-bit Spectra ISP, real-time processing functions (such as bokeh and contemporary face enhancement) and volumetric rendering in video games.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

And then the time has finally arrived for the company’s new top-of-the-range processor, that of the former 7xx family and today Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Qualcomm calls it “the complete package”, also because it is likely that Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will be inside many smartphones among the best-selling ones by those looking for the best at the right price. From the gaming point of view, for example, we have technologies such as the Qualcomm Adreno Frame Motion Engine, the Game Quick Touch, the Variable Rate Shading and, compared to the previous generation, also an overall 20% more rendering power.

We will then have the support for QHD + screens (in fact usually reserved for very high-end smartphones), to the cancellation technology of the car re-entry into the microphones and the automatic correction of the speaker volume based on the context. All while guaranteeing the maximum in terms of connectivity: 5G up to 4.4 Gbps with the Snapdragon X62 modem and Wi-Fi 6 with the Fast Connect 6900.

The photographic part is also very interesting with support for recording 4K HDR movies thanks to the triple 14-bit ISP and the ability to take photos with sensors up to 200 megapixels. Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will also support recording photos and videos from three cameras at the same time.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 also includes a dedicated Trust Management Engine and Android Ready SE, an absolute novelty of the Snapdragon 7 series, useful for ensuring maximum safety for end users. This technology may guarantee support for uploading Google Wallet ID documents.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will be available as early as June on OPPO, Honor and Xiaomi smartphones.
