Android 13: the second beta for Android TV arrives, but you can’t try it yet
Just a few days ago, the first beta of Android 13 for Android TV and Google TV arrived: that version was however affected by serious bugs and brought practically nothing new, which is why Google has decided to release Beta 2which cannot be tested on physical devices.
The firmware of this second beta is in fact available only for the android studio emulator, software used by developers to create their own applications. Unlike the first beta, however, some interesting news arrives: when an HDMI device will no longer be the active source on the TV, content playback will be stopped and the device in question it will be put on standby to save energy.
In addition to that, there is also a first support for one best picture in picture modewhich developers can customize based on the content of their apps, even without taking into account a precise aspect ratio as it happened before. With the new mode “docked” for the PiP, the picture-in-picture window will be positioned on the edge of the screen, while the full-screen app will occupy the remaining space (practically a kind of split screen). Once this mode is deactivated, the picture in picture window will be in the foreground of the background.
As mentioned, it is not yet possible to install this beta on a physical device at the moment, but we hope to be able to do so with the next releases of Android 13 for Android TV and Google TV.
