Cyberpunk 2077 – CD Projekt under the scrutiny of UOKiK
The CD Projekt RED studio has been examined by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. As reported by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, the office was interested in the premiere of Cyberpunk 2077 and the problems related to the game based on reports that appeared in the press.
Magdalena Cieloch, UOKiK’s spokesman says, that the office asked the entrepreneur to explain his problems with the game. The subject of the control will be work on introducing amendments to the product and the issue of returns promised by CD Projekt RED.
We ask the entrepreneur to explain the problems with the game and the actions taken by him. We will check how the manufacturer is working on introducing corrections or solving difficulties that prevent the game from playing on different consoles, as well as how it intends to act in relation to people who have submitted complaints and are dissatisfied with the purchase due to the inability to play the game on their equipment despite the manufacturer’s previous assurances.
If the office finds any irregularities, may order a fine of 10% of the entrepreneur’s annual income or, as reported by Dominik Jędrzejko from the Nieuczdzielepraktykirynkowe.pl blog, withdraw from measuring it and issue a decision obliging the consumers who bought the game for old-generation consoles to receive additional bonuses in the form of digital content, gadgets or refunds of part of the selling price.
These are not the only problems of the Polish studio. A few days ago, we announced that the companies had decided to file a class action lawsuit against CDP RED. We are talking about two American law firms – The Schall Law Firm from Los Angeles and Rosen Law Firm from New York.
However, when we look at the sale of the game, the Polish team cannot complain. The official report stated that Cyberpunk 2077 found over 13 million buyers, including all returns on each platform. However, we will see how the situation with UOKiK will develop and whether it will have a similar impact on the share price as after the removal of the game from the PS Store.
