Difficulty setting up Home devices? Google warns it’s Sonos’ fault
Some time ago we reported the news that it would no longer be possible adjust the volume globally for smart speaker groups Nest. The change took place following the judgment of the US ITC in a it causes brought by Are S versus Googlebut obviously a loophole had been found immediately.
Now it seems that the effects of the sentence have caused further aftermathas a post on the Google Nest community site warns Pixel users from the United States and Canada who may have problems setting up devices Google Home. And blame it bluntly would be from Sonos.
Specifically, the owners of Pixel phones trying to set up a device that hasn’t been connected to Wi-Fi “for a while (or never)” might get this message:
The device must be activated before configuration.
The underlying problem seems to lie in the old firmware and seen that it would afflict Nest, Google Home and Chromecast devices (not Android or Google TV) never opened or not connected to the network in a while, it shouldn’t involve a lot of people. For those who encounter this problem outside the United States and CanadaGoogle suggests using the app “Device Utility“, while residents of the above countries should contact support. A Google spokesperson said dissatisfaction of the company towards Are S and how you use the law to harm users.
