Google Maps: the widget arrives to keep traffic under control

Google has recently announced that the Android smartphone version of theMaps app will soon receive a brand new widget that iOS users know well: it is in fact the widget that allows you to monitor traffic to a specific destination.

In the preview provided by Google, which you can see below, we note that the widget will have rounded edges and that the big button to enlarge or reduce the map at the bottom right will be colored according to the background set on the device (therefore support for Android 12 dynamic themes will not be missing). The map will instead be populated with green, yellow or red lines, based on the level of traffic just like it does in the full app.

For the moment, Google only showed the 2 x 2 version of the widget, but we hope to see a larger variant soon, certainly preferable on devices with wide screens. This widget will arrive in the next few weeks on the Google Maps app.
